kamicaceAquapolis Waterpark in Torrevieja, Costa Blanca. This offers a fantastic day out for all the family with rides for young and old a like. Aquopolis is in Torrevieja and you can see it off the N332 on the opposite side of the N332 from the huge Carrefour supermarket. There is a large car park for which there is a 5€ charge. It doesn't open until 11.00 but I recommend getting there a bit before if only to get near to the front of the queue.

There are more than 15 attractions and slides including the Jacuzzi - Whirlpool, Hidrotubo, Kamicace, Zigzag, mini Zigzag, Black Hole, Boomerang and Wave Pool. The smaller ones can enjoy the children's pool with countless games for them, or you might simply enjoy the extensive landscaped gardens and broad meadows where you can relax.

When you go in there is a general move to try to find the best loungers yet another reason to get there early. As you will be there all day you need to consider the shade you might get, unless of course you have gone to improve your tan and want to spend all day in the sun soaking up the rays. The staff don't allow you to take your own chairs or loungers in, you have to use theirs or sit on the grass, of which there is plenty. There is a 4€ charge to hire a lounger and the staff come around to collect the money from you.

Once you have got yourselves settled and got a base you are ready to go around and start going on the rides. Many of the rides require a single or double rubber ring, which you can either queue up or use those provided by the park or you can hire a single for 7€ or a double for 12€. On a busy day it is probably worth the 7€ as you can end up in two queues, one for the ring and then one to get on the ride - so it can save you a lot of queuing time. Also on busy days the park can run out of rings for you to hire so get there early or you may not be able to get one. Most of the "big" rides have a height/age restriction which if you have any children who fall below it, can be very disappointing for them.

If you have smaller children there is a large shallow pool with small slides and some tubes and climbs for them. If you can get a lounger by this pool it means you can keep an eye on them without having to be in the water all the time.

There is a restaurant where you can buy the usual fare of pizza, burger, nuggets and chips. There are kiosks selling drinks and ice creams. Alternatively you can bring a picnic and use the ample shaded picnic tables.

The park closes at 7.00pm June to August and 6.00pm in September, after which it closes until the following June. You have to stay the full day to really get you monies worth but providing the weather is good then you usually have to pull your kids off the rides to get them to go home.

There is a small shop selling general swimming stuff like goggles, sun cream, water wings and then the usual souvenirs.

There are Aquopolis http://www.aquopolis.es/ and other water theme parks in Spain. This one is well worth a visit and if you have young kids will offer a full days entertainment.

The Aquopolis water park is close to the shopping centres of a huge Carrefour supermarket and the 3 level Habaneras shopping centre.

carrefourThe Carrefour supermarket has a none food section with electrical goods, furniture, clothing and hardware. It has a garden furniture section with chairs and tables for the garden, sun shade umbrellas and lots more. The food part has a large wet fish counter where you can choose the catch of the day and they will gut and fillet the fish for you if you want. It has a large free car park.

habanerasThe Habaneras is spread over 3 levels with a large range of shops selling clothes, mobile phones, furniture and a handy do it yourself store. There is an indoor car park for which you have to pay. On the top floor there are some cafés from which you can have your lunch and have a drink.

Why not make a day of it and spend half the morning shopping and the afternoon enjoying the thrills of the water park.
