You can cycle virtually all the way around the Mar Menor along its trails, dirt tracks and an old royal drove-way, all of which hug close to the coastline. The 56.4km cycling route around the Mar Menor is a pleasant ride with no inclines, so making the going that much easier. It can be covered in about 7 hours. There is only one stretch, in the area known as Las Encanizadas at the northern end of La Manga, where various canals prevent crossing by bike.

Autumn is the ideal time of year to cycle the 'market garden route', which takes you through the low-lying plains around the Mar Menor. The route covers 22km and takes around 2.5 hours passing through fruit and vegetable fields and vast expanses of glasshouses. There are other points of interest including the Torre del Rame, a 16th century defensive tower.
