If you would like to find out all about the meaning of the Relic of the True Cross of Caravaca, visit the Vera Cruz Museum, located in the sanctuary of the same name. The museum's galleries reveal the history of the Sacred Relic, its religious accoutrements and the castle's archaeological remains. Also on display is the chasuble which, according to the chronicles of the time, was worn by the priest Qines Perez de Chirinos when he officiated at the Mass of the Apparition and the silver coffer in which the relic of the Lignum Crucis has been kept for 612 years. In the basement you can see the remains of the walls and dungeons of the old mediaeval castle, as well the large cisterns that used to supply water in the Middle Ages
